1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House ("Mikiya", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit our restaurants, use mikiyaofficial.com, or join the Mikiya membership and rewards program.
By using our website or joining our membership program, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or enroll in the program.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Membership registration: your name, mobile phone number, email address, birthday (month and day only — we do not collect your birth year), and gender.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google sends us your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us by phone, email, or through social media.
- Reservations and in-restaurant service: party size, dining preferences, allergy or dietary information you choose to share, and special-occasion notes.
2.2 Information generated when you dine or transact
- Purchase records: date, time, restaurant location, items and menu tier ordered, and the amount paid.
- Visit records: which location you visited, when, and whether you brought a guest under a membership benefit.
- Rewards activity: points earned, points redeemed, tier status, referral activity, and benefits used (for example a birthday benefit or welcome gift).
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, scroll depth, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 6.
3. How we use your information
| Purpose | What this involves |
|---|---|
| Run the membership program | Create and maintain your account, calculate points and tier status, apply member pricing, and issue benefits such as the welcome gift, birthday benefit and guest privilege. |
| Provide our services | Take and fulfil orders, manage reservations, and provide customer support. |
| Marketing (with your consent) | Send offers, new-item announcements, double-points reminders and other promotions by text message or email. See Section 4. |
| Improve our business | Understand which menus and locations are popular, measure website performance, and improve our food, service and marketing. |
| Security and fraud prevention | Detect and prevent abuse of the rewards program, fraudulent transactions, and unauthorised account access. |
| Legal compliance | Meet accounting, tax, food-safety and other legal obligations, and respond to lawful requests. |
4. Text messages and email marketing
We only send you marketing text messages or marketing emails if you have opted in. When you opt in, we record the date and time of your consent and the version of the terms you agreed to.
- Text messages: message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any marketing text to opt out, or HELP for help.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Transactional messages: even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you non-marketing messages about your account, a reservation, or a transaction.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.
We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure site traffic and interactions — for example which menu tier is viewed most often, and whether guests tap the call, directions or reservation buttons. This helps us improve the site and our promotions.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
7. How long we keep information
- Membership records are kept for as long as your membership is active, and for up to three years after your last transaction or interaction, so that we can restore an account and honour previously earned points.
- Transaction and visit records are kept for at least seven years where required for accounting and tax purposes.
- Marketing consent and opt-out records are kept for as long as required to demonstrate compliance with marketing laws.
We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.
8. How we protect information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls that limit member data to staff who need it, and hosting on providers that maintain industry-standard security practices.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately using the details in Section 13.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know or access the personal information we hold about you, and how we use and share it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Note that if you ask us to delete your membership record, we can no longer maintain your points balance or tier status.
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will verify your identity — usually by confirming the phone number or email address on your membership account — before acting on the request, and will respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. Additional notice for California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the rights described in Section 9. In the preceding twelve months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2, for the purposes described in Section 3, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients described in Section 5 for business purposes.
We have not sold personal information for money. We do share certain identifiers, such as device and browsing data, with advertising partners like Meta and Google, which may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to opt out of this sharing at any time — see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information below, or use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Info" link in the cookie banner on any page.
You may designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We will require proof of the agent's authority.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
California residents can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising at any time, at no cost, and without creating an account. To opt out:
- Click or the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the footer of any page, or
- Turn on the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser — we treat it as a valid opt-out request automatically.
11. Children's privacy
Our website and membership program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Membership enrollment requires you to be at least 18 years old. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as by email or a notice on our website. Your continued use of our website or membership program after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
